What Science Says About Extraterrestrial Life

Scientists broadly agree that the probability of life existing somewhere else in the universe is very high:

• There are an estimated 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe
• The Milky Way alone contains roughly 100-400 billion stars, many with planetary systems
• NASA's Kepler mission found that roughly 20% of Sun-like stars have Earth-sized planets in the habitable zone
• Life on Earth exists in extreme environments — boiling hot springs, deep ocean vents, Antarctic ice — suggesting life is resilient and adaptable

UFOs and UAPs

In 2020, the Pentagon officially released three videos showing Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) captured by Navy pilots. In 2023, former intelligence officer David Grusch testified before Congress that the U.S. government possesses "non-human biologics." However:

• No physical evidence has been publicly presented
• UAP footage shows unidentified objects — not confirmed alien spacecraft
• Many UAP sightings have mundane explanations: drones, weather balloons, optical illusions

Our Verdict

Alien life somewhere in the universe is statistically very likely — but there is currently no confirmed evidence that aliens have visited Earth. The universe is almost certainly not empty, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and we don't have that yet.
